Free Piece Of Tape video video2

Just a few days before the label's 5th release, we think it's nice to say a few words about it.
The first Free Piece Of Tape song that we ever listened was the track called 'ReM'. It was on the band's last FM site, and immediately caught our attention. We decided to send an email to FPOT, asking for more music and recordings of the band. Their response was fast and despite a small mesh up with the greek post office we got a double cd on our hands almost a year ago.
The music came as a surprise to us. 100% analog treatment...pedal effects, contact mics, synths, ruined samples, found tiny objects used to create massive sounds, even monastic wooden bells known as ''simantro'' processed through reverb and delay effects resulting to a haunting ambience.
The next step was to invite Free Piece Of Tape, to bring all their equipment to Thessaloniki and play a live show. After watching how the duo worked live on stage, controlling this mountain of equipment and creating live from scratch, some of the finest textures we have ever listened, we decided that their music had to be on our label's catalog.
Almost a year later, we have the band's 500 cds in hand. Next week we will have the digipacks/artwork and we will be ready to send the cds to record stores and place them on our online store.
granny records will be broadcasting live, every friday 22:00 -23:00 from the cooradio net frequencies. Dark music before a happy night out.
Granny Records is mentioned in this month's wire magazine, on the global ear article about Thessaloniki.
There are also a few songs of granny record's artists at the wire website under the 'mp3 specials'.
Yannis Tsirikoglou from ''eventless plot'', under his ''mintd'' moniker, will perform at the worm(nl), along with co-student Aurimas Bavarskis from the institute of Sonology in the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
They form a duo that explores immense sonic possibilities by employing a great deal of digital tools and analogue devices like VLF receivers and sensors
The event will take place on Sun.04.April.
Welcome to our new website.
